A tourist bus entering Venice and parking at Tronchetto pays the AVM ZTL Bus fee: €310 per entry day (standard pass, Euro 6), or €190 per night with the hotel (“Alberghi”) pass when the group sleeps inside the Comune di Venezia. Buses stopping on the mainland (terraferma) or Lido pay less. The published AVM tariff has no seasonal or carnival variation for Venice itself.

The hotel pass — the detail that saves real money

The Alberghi pass requires the group to sleep inside the ZTL area — practically the Comune di Venezia, including Mestre and Lido. A hotel in Jesolo or Padova does not qualify: each visit day then needs its own €310 standard pass. Two nights in Mestre cost 2 × €190 — not three — because the last night's pass covers the departure day until 19:00.

A note on Carnival

The AVM tariff for Venice itself publishes no carnival surcharge — but Cavallino-Treporti, the beach comune where many tour groups actually sleep, runs its own bus tariff with special carnival rates. If your group's hotel is in Cavallino-Treporti, a different tariff applies — our quotes handle this automatically.

Minibus vs coach in Venice — an honest note

Venice is one city where “minibus” is defined by seats, not length: AVM's minibus tier applies only to vehicles homologated for at most 16 passengers. Most of our Sprinters are homologated for 18–24 seats, so they pay the standard Ordinario rate — and our quotes budget it that way. No surprise at the checkpoint.

FAQ

Does a 19-seat Sprinter pay less than a coach in Venice?

No — Venice tiers by homologated seats (minibus = max 16 passengers), so a 19-seater pays the same Ordinario rate as a full-size coach. Venice is the exception; in most other cities our under-8 m length is what earns the lower tier.

Is the Venice bus fee per day or per stay?

Per entry day for the standard pass; the hotel pass is per night and the last night's pass covers the departure day until 19:00.

Are there higher rates during Carnival?

Not in Venice's own AVM tariff — but Cavallino-Treporti, a common hotel base for groups, has its own carnival tariff. Where your group sleeps decides which tariff applies.
